Watch: "Wasteland" - A Shortfuse Film

Shortfuse Film is back with yet another small but curious window into the heart of Lebanon. This time it's a morning scene in Marina Dbayeh that takes a hellish twist. According to Heavy G, the short is about "Pollution and the soul of man, mutually inclusive things". Note: Either Blogger or YouTube has a ridiculous restriction for playing this video on MechanoChameleon, so if you have trouble watching, try clicking 'Watch on YouTube'. Enjoy the show!

Organize Your Life: Gaming, Books, and Film

Some call it organization, others call it Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Either way, we like lists, and we're constantly looking for means to organize our interests into digital lists or onto virtual shelves. The following post contains recommendations for what we think are the best/most efficient websites to organize your video games, books, and movies.

Gaming: Darkadia
I discovered Darkadia not long ago, and it just so happened to be exactly what I was looking for. A database containing almost every video game ever made, simple yet handsome interface, and the ability to tag each of your games as follows: Owned, Played, Finished, Loved. The database also provides users with detailed information about each added game.
Best of all, Darkadia lets you display all your games in a smooth shelf-style library accessible by all. Check out MechanoChameleon on Darkadia and start your own collection!

Books: Goodreads
Goodreads is quite the large community. On the website, you can add particular editions of books to your library, as well as label them 'Read', 'To Read', or 'Currently Reading'. You can also rate each book out of 5 stars and discuss it with others. Chances are you know a handful of people who already sport a respectable library on Goodreads, but if you don't, we suggest you invite as many interested people as possible; Goodreads is as much about connecting with and viewing other people's libraries as it is about organizing your own books. You can find MechanoChameleon on Goodreads right here.

Film: Mubi
This was our most difficult decision; there are so many movie websites out there and each one provides certain services that other websites don't. Of course, the master of all film websites is IMDb, but we were looking for something a little bit less cluttered with ads, and we found Mubi. The website allows you to rate films out of 5 stars, select your favorite films and directors, as well as mark other films with a "Want to watch" tag. Mubi provides users with the ability to sign in using their Facebook or Twitter accounts, thus making it easier to connect with friends. Click here to check us out on Mubi!

Mizalla.com: A Long Awaited Local Online Experience

Online shopping in Lebanon has been limited to digital purchases for as long as we can remember. However, our days of darkness are over; no more logging into Amazon and thinking "Why can't I have that?". Thanks to Mizalla, we are on the way to establishing a full-fledged online shopping experience. Mizalla currently offers products in the computers and electronics department, but there are plans to expand their product range by the end of the year to include everything from phones, fashion accessories, and games! The website allows you to pay cash on delivery, so you don't have to worry about credit card options.
This is a great step in improving the online experience for techies, geeks, and internet-lovers in Lebanon. A huge MechanoChameleon commendation to the hardworking folks over at Mizalla!

Play: The Humble Indie Bundle [A.K.A. Shut Up and Take My Money]

If you're into video games and have never heard of the Humble Indie Bundle, I suggest you do a bit of light reading right here.
I'm embarrassed to say that I only found out about this terrific little website very recently, and it is needless to mention that I was immediately interested in what these guys had to offer. What we have here is an offer that you really cannot refuse. The current deal on Humble Indie Bundle (expires August 9) is for six awesome games. And the great thing about HIB is that you can pay literally as much as you want (but don't buy the package for $0.01, only assholes do that) Pay more than the average price (usually around $5.00) and you get five more great games.
We're not talking about Farmville either, these people mean business; the offer leaves you with 11 fantastic indie games including Machinarium and Braid. If you were to buy all 11 games separately, it would cost you somewhere close to $50.00, so this is a great bargain to say the least! And, if all that isn't enough, whatever money you pay will go to charity, and you get to decide how much goes where. We nabbed this sweet deal just last night, and we're already hooked on Cogs and OsmosGet the bundle here!

So I'm not great at Photoshop, sue me.
