Kick-Ass Personal Coat of Arms

So recently I've been getting into something called heraldry, which is basically the study of coats of arms. The cool thing about coats of arms is that you see them absolutely everywhere, but probably rarely ever take the time to look at them properly. Here are a couple of examples of cool coats of arms.

Hogwart's School of Witchcraft & Wizardry. The four charges represent the four houses of Hogwarts, and the motto is Latin for "Never tickle a sleeping dragon"

World of Warcraft: The Horde. A simple coat of arms including a shield bearing the sign of the Horde and symbols representing the main races, Orcs, Trolls, Taurens, and The Forsaken.

Supported by two Narwhals, the coat of arms bears the head of the Reddit alien, bacon, the 'Look of Disapproval', and the 'unread mail' symbol. In addition to the two arrows representing upvotes & downvotes.

So, here is my attempt at a personal coat of arms, what do you think? Pretty bad ass huh? I thought so too.
So the shield is a classic shape, colored in green and silver (white), supported from the right hand side by Fenrir, son of Loki, potential destroyer of worlds, and from the left hand side by Okami Amaterasu, goddess of the Sun, protector and mother to us all.
The four charges are Ouroboros (12 o'clock), the snake that eats its own tail, a symbol of self-reflexivity and the cyclical nature of life. A dryad (3 o'clock), a tree nymph, often alluded to in poetry, she represents nature and the elusiveness of beauty. A dinosaur (6 o'clock), ancient and (believed to be) extinct, such as myself. And finally, a chameleon (9 o'clock), colorful, adaptable, and never in a hurry.
The helm on top is that of a Stormtrooper, and I added a mantle around it for extra depth.
The motto at the bottom is supposed to say "Forgetfulness and Pleasure" in Latin. Not quite sure how much I trust Google Translate though. Still, it looks pretty awesome, doesn't it?

  1. this is awesome!! true, i do see them everywhere and never really think about them! haha i love yours! reminds me of how you think snakes are what was it... 'honorable'? haha.

  2. @yara Thanks! And yes, snakes are very honorable. They will never harm you if they can avoid it; they are peaceful but powerful :)
